Lake Roosevelt 61, Brewster 60 (OT)
Game 1.
At Chelan, WA

Brad Oliver hit only one field goal all night, but it was the decisive basket, a 3-pointer at the buzzer, to upset the Bears.
Lake Roosevelt gained possession on a jump ball with six seconds left for the final shot. Brewster clogged up the inside where Garrett Strocsher scored 21 points (four in overtime).
“We did what we wanted to, bottled up Strocsher and they had another big guy hit a shot,” Brewster coach Tim Taylor said. “We struggled all game to go ahead, but they hit a big shot.”
Brewster forced overtime on David Pendergraft's inside shot with two seconds left. He finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds.
The freshman added a rebound basket in overtime to slice into Lake Roosevelt's lead. Ryan Brown (14 points) then hit a trey to put Brewster ahead.
After a turnover, Daniel Gebbers split two free throws for a 60-58 lead. He finished with 12 points, seven assists and four steals.
“We made a bunch of free throws, but not the critical ones at the end,” Taylor said.

Okanogan 64, Oroville 46
Game 2.
At Chelan, WA

After one upset, the Okanogan boys made sure a second didn't follow in the opening round of the North Central District 1A basketball tourney Thursday.
The top-seeded Bulldogs beat Oroville 62-46 to advance to the district championship game Saturday with a State 1A berth on the line. Okanogan faces Lake Roosevelt, a surprise 61-60 overtime winner against Brewster.
Senior post Jordan Horner scored 11 points in the second quarter to help the Bulldogs take control.
Horner hit all four of his shots that quarter, finishing with 22 points, eight rebounds and seven blocked shots.
“We kept going inside to Jordan and he worked hard to finish his shots,” Okanogan coach Levi Heyen said. “We're usually more balanced offensively, but we wanted to take advantage of the mismatch Jordan created.”
Bryan Attridge had seven assists and Bryce Chamberlin six while feeding Horner. Chamberlin finished with 14 points and Kyle Hill 13.
“After watching the first game, we knew we didn't want to be playing Brewster in a loser-out game,” Heyen said. “That'd be really scary.”
The Bulldogs lost to Brewster in the regular-season finale (69-66). Instead, Okanogan faces a Lake Roosevelt team it swept 56-52 in Coulee Dam and 75-49 at home.
OROVILLE (8-12) - Schell, Roth 5, Jensen 18, LaBaron 5, Clark 11, Hughes, Monroe 5, Thornton, Roller 2.
OKANOGAN (19-2) - Wilson, A. Hill 2, K. Hill 13, Chamberlin 14, Tonasket 3, Spencer, Horner 26, Attridge 4, Saenz.

Brewster 82, Oroville 60
Game 3. (Loser out)
At Chelan, WA

When the Hornets almost caught up, the Bears ran away.
Brewster used a 12-0 spurt late in the first half to take control of the loser-out game. Then a 9-2 surge followed in the third quarter.
Four different Bears scored in the run before halftime, putting Brewster up by 10. Daniel Gebbers keyed the second surge, scoring seven points to move Brewster up by 13 (48-35).
“The first one set up the second one,” Bear coach Tim Taylor said. “We were looking to push the ball.”
The second run came right after Oroville senior forward Brendan Monroe went down with an ankle injury, scoring 12 before he went out. Fellow senior Erik Jensen finished with 21.
Daniel Gebbers led four Brewster players in double figures with 19. A double nine (points and rebounds) by freshman Tyler Evans was also significant.
“If I could give out a player of the game, it'd be Tyler,” Daniel Gebbers said.

Okanogan 50, Lake Roosevelt 45
Game 4. (Championship, winner to regionals)
At Chelan, WA

Both teams left it out on the floor in the North Central District 1A boys' championship game, especially with 29 seconds left.
Okanogan led by one, but Lake Roosevelt possessed the ball in Saturday's game at the Lake Chelan Community gym. It was knocked away, eluded one pile, but not a second stack of six players. The Bulldogs were awarded the ball on alternating possession.
It keyed a 50-45 Okanogan victory and a trip to the State 1A tourney at the Yakima SunDome on Feb. 28 to March 3. First is a regional seeding game against Freeman at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Moses Lake.
Meanwhile, Lake Roosevelt plays Brewster for the second seed to regionals. That loser-out game is at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Lake Chelan Community Gym.
That facility may have remnants of the eight-body pileup in the final seconds of the district title game.
“Coach Levi Heyen told us he wanted to see our skin on the floor anytime there's a loose ball in this game,” Bulldog senior guard Bryan Attridge said.
With possession, Lake Roosevelt promptly fouled Attridge. He hit two free throws with 23 seconds.
After a Raider missed shot, Bryce Chamberlin followed with two more free throws. The senior had a team-high 14 points.
“We've shot 50 free throws a day before each practice in the last few weeks,” Chamberlin said. “We knew it'd be a big part of the game.”
Those free throws completed a 10-0 finishing run in the final three minutes. Chamberlin was a big part of that finish with three assists, two going to Jordan Horner and another to Andy Hill for a layup.
Lake Roosevelt stayed ahead with patient offense. Junior 6-foot-5 posts Levi Seekins and Brad Oliver combined for 14 points in the first quarter.
Okanogan was aided by the play of reserve Justin Tonasket. He scored four points on inside shots in a late third-quarter run.
“Justin is our engerizer bunny,” Heyen said.

Brewster 76, Lake Roosevelt 63
Game 5. (Winner to regionals, loser out)
At Chelan, WA

After one buzzer-beater loss, the Brewster boys' basketball team wanted to make sure Lake Roosevelt couldn't hit another miracle shot in the North Central District 1A tourney.
So the Bears scored 48 points in the first half of Tuesday's consolation finals. Brewster won 76-63, avenging a semifinal loss and staying in the hunt for a trip to the State 1A tourney.
Next up is a Saturday trip to regionals at Moses Lake. Kettle Falls awaits for a 12:30 p.m. game.
To keep playing, the Bears didn't miss many shots. Brewster hit its first six 3-pointers, part of a 60 percent effort from the field in the first half.
“We moved the ball so well at the start,” Bear coach Tim Taylor said. “Just like against Oroville, we wanted to push the ball every time we could.”
It helped free up Ryan Brown for 3-pointers. The junior hit three in the first quarter and finished with 17 points.
“I wasn't hitting many shots in the past few games,” Brown said. “That first one tonight felt good when I let it go.”
The Bears also had success inside. Dustin Boesel scored nine points, starting with a steal and layup in the first quarter.
“We wanted to get out to a good start and keep going,” Boesel said. “We weren't going to let it be close at the end this time.”
It wasn't at halftime. Brewster led 48-28. But Lake Roosevelt kept plugging away, using a full-court press against Brewster's veteran guards.
The Raiders trailed 64-53 with four minutes left in the game when Levi Seekins hit a trey. The Bears helped out by missing 6 of 8 shots and a pair of turnovers.
“Give Lake Roosevelt credit, they never quit,” the Brewster coach said. “We let their press bother us. We didn't make good decisions against that press.”
The Bears did make free throws to seal the win. Brewster hit 12 of 14 in the fourth quarter. Senior guard Daniel Gebbers led the parade, downing 5 of 6. He finished with 20 points and four assists.
Boesel added 13 points and six rebounds. David Pendergraft contributed 11 and 12.
A trio of Raiders finished in double figures. Seekins scored 17, with eight in the first quarter. Rob Shields added 11 with six in the fourth quarter, and Brad Oliver wound up with 10.
