Liberty Bell 52, Brewster 51
Game 5.
At Brewster, WA

Regan Walsh has been putting herself in the right position for four years with the Liberty Bell girls.
On Friday, Walsh came up with a big rebound of a missed free throw with 4.3 seconds left, getting fouled and sinking both free throws for a 52-51 North Central District 1A basketball victory over Brewster on the Bears' home court.
The win sends the Lions to Saturday's district title game at 6 p.m. against Lake Roosevelt. Both teams advance to the State 1A tourney starting Wednesday at the Yakima Sundome.
"Regan got it and made both free throws cool as a cucumber," Lion coach Mike Bourn said of the game-winning points.
Fleet-footed Melanie Todd -- whose two free throws with 23 seconds left had put Brewster ahead 51-50 -- made a dribble-drive nearly three-quarters of the court's length for Brewster. She then got off a good shot within 15 feet, but it rimmed off at the buzzer.
Korrie Bourn pumped in 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Liberty Bell. Walsh also netted 15.
For Brewster, Kyla Evans hit for 18 points before fouling out with 2:30 left. Martha Taylor added 13.
"It's been this way this whole season," Brewster coach Bryan Boesel said of the close loss. "Five of our seven losses have been three or less points, and three have been by one point. It's hard to take when you're depending on a rebound."

LIBERTY BELL (18-6) - Bradshaw, Ki. Taylor 4, Kr. Taylor, McCurry 7, Ko. Bourn 15, Walsh 15, Estes 3, Ke. Bourn 8, Paluck.
BREWSTER (16-7) - M. Todd 6, Scheller 2, C. Todd 4, Freels 8, Evans 18, Taylor 13, LaMoreaux, Brown, Youngers.

Lake Roosevelt 59, Liberty Bell 54
Game 6. (Championship, both to state)
At Brewster, WA

In a game of rallies, the final one decided the game.
Lake Roosevelt used a 9-2 spurt midway through the fourth quarter to regain the lead. Down 50-46, Rachelle Ives started a comeback with a steal and layup.
Inside shots by Amanda Marchand and Rowena St. Pierre followed to put the Raiders ahead for the rest of the game.
"We had to tighten up our game at the end," Raider junior post Jessica Loe said.
That tightening up was similar to a 7-0 start, also led by Marchand and Ives. The two scored all of the early points as Ives finished with 20 and Marchand 16.
Liberty Bell then dominated the middle of the second half with a 12-2 spurt. Kelsey Bourn's trey started the rally followed by Kimber Taylor hitting a pair of medium-range jumpers.
Six Lions scored in the third quarter, helping Liberty Bell to its first lead. Taylor had six of her 13 points in the third quarter. Senior Katie McCurry moved the Lions in position with seven points in the second quarter, part of her team-high 17.
"When they put the pressure on us, we let that bother us," Raider coach Billy Nicholson said. "In the final minutes, we were able to get back to doing what we like to do."
That was fast breaking basketball, part of a 20-point fourth quarter.

LIBERTY BELL (18-7) - McCurry 17, Ko. Bourn 7, Walsh 4, Ki. Taylor 13, Ke. Bourn 5, Ma. Bradshaw, Estes 5, Paluck 3. Totals 17-43 17-28 54.
