Lake Roosevelt 66, Liberty Bell 52
Game 4.
At Brewster, WA

It was a simple strategy played out to perfection.
Lake Roosevelt used good ball movement and a full-court press to wear down Liberty Bell in the district championship game Thursday at Brewster High School.
Rowena St. Pierre scored 15 points and Lachelle Ives had 13 to lead Lake Roosevelt to a 66-52 victory and a repeat trip to the state 1A tournament, which begins Wednesday in Yakima.
Liberty Bell will play top-ranked Colfax in the regional tournament at 6 p.m. Saturday at Brewster High School in a loser-out game.
"We got off to a slow start," Lake Roosevelt coach Billy Nicholson said. "Liberty Bell always gives us a heck of a game."
Liberty Bell kept the game close until the Raiders went on a 10-2 run at the end of the third quarter. St. Pierre and Lauren Barnaby-Barry exchanged transition baskets during that stretch. Lake Roosevelt led 50-36 going into the fourth.
"We shot ourselves in the foot," said Liberty Bell coach Mike Bourn. "We didn't handle their pressure."
Kimber Taylor, who scored 21 points for Liberty Bell, brought her team to within 10 points at 52-42 early in the fourth quarter on a hard drive to the basket. Lake Roosevelt's defense, however, prevented the Mountain Lions from cutting a double-digit deficit.
"We didn't take care of the ball, but I was happy with the way they stayed after it for the full 32 minutes," Bourn said. "They didn't fold their tent."
Bourn said his team "got a little tired" in the second half. Liberty Bell has eight freshmen and sophomores on its roster.
"We don't have the depth yet," Bourn said.
Amanda Marchand, who scored seven points for Lake Roosevelt, said good defense and passing was the key to the victory. She said the Raiders are playing well as a team and should be ready for the state tournament.
"I think everyone is coming together," Marchand said.

LAKE ROOSEVELT (19-3) - Williams 2, St. Pierre 15, Circle 11, Marchand 7, Barnaby-Barry 5, Ives 13, Loe 6, Meza 7.
LIBERTY BELL (14-9) - Bradshaw, Kr. Taylor, Bourne 10, Campbell, Ki. Taylor 21, Layfield 5, Paluck 16, Darch.
