Brewster 45, Cashmere 36
-Game 5-
In the other semifinal, "it
was a matter of pretty good defense and not very good offense," as
Brewster coach Tim Taylor put it. Cashmere (13-8) shot just 35
percent from the field for the game and scored just 10 points in the
second half.
Still, the unbeaten Bears (21-0) only led by one point heading into
halftime. The Bulldogs hit buzzer-beaters at the end of the first two
quarters to keep the game close.
"We kind of fell asleep and that didn't sit too well (with me),"
Taylor said. "But the thing I was most disturbed about, we were just
not getting open -- just kind of dancing with guys on the wing and not
getting into our offense."
Wade Gebbers led Brewster with 14 points. Rocky Gipson and Clay
Gebbers added nine and eight, respectively. Brodie McCormack
led the Bears on the boards with six.
Michael Miller's 15 points and six rebounds topped the Cashmere
squad, which faces Chelan on Saturday. Both teams are headed to regional
play regardless of the outcome, vying for the third and fourth seeds out
of the North Central District.
