Ephrata 37, Omak 33
Game 11. (Winner to state loser out)
At Omak High School

It was a classic match-up of a team with size (Ephrata) against a team with quickness (Omak).
Size won. The Tigers clobbered their smaller foes on the boards, 47-27, led by the front line of 6-2 Deb Wyman, 6-0 Renee Compton and 5-9 Angelina Andrews.
But it was the type of game the quicker Pioneers, who forced an epidemic of 32 Ephrata turnovers, could've easily pulled out.
Omak made its move with 1:40 to go and trailing by seven points. The Pioneers' Sharon Woods hit two free throws and a jumper from the side and Kris Whittle sank one of two foul shots to move their club within a field goal of the Tigers at 40 seconds.
Ephrata handed the ball over to Omak with 30 seconds left on a double dribble violation, but the Pioneers missed two shots and committed a turnover. The Tigers wrapped up the win with a pair of foul shots by Eileen Dorsey with one second showing on the clock.
"Our best games have been against them this year," said Ephrata coach Don King. His Tigers beat Omak by six and one during the regular season. The Pioneers won an overtime decision in the first round of the district tournament.
"My guards (Wendy Merry and Dorsey) are only sophomores," said King. "We've got a real mismatch there. But I was real pleased with our poise tonight."
King called the Pioneers' Lisa Metcalfe "the best guard in the league." It was Metcalfe and her backcourt mate, Whittle, who spearheaded Omak's full-court press by constantly waving their hands and thrusting their bodies in the front of the on-coming Tigers.
Both clubs had difficulty from the field, Ephrata shot 32% (12-of-38) while the Pioneers hit just 23% (14-of-62).

Omak (11-12) - Metcalfe 4, Smith 8, Whittle 5, Woods 10, Edwards 2, Schneider, Lamb 4.
Ephrata (15-9) - Compton 6, Merry, Andrews 4, Dorsey 8, Wyman 10, Lonnfors 2, Longworth, Trimble 3, Monson 2, Harvill.

Lake Roosevelt 52, Okanogan 41
Game 12 (Championship)
At Omak High School

Lake Roosevelt coach Jay Runkel came dressed for success to Saturday night's North Central District "A" girls basketball championship.
Runkel directed his team from the sidelines in a three-piece suit. The Raiders responded by dismantling the Bulldogs to lay claim to the district crown.
The Raiders' win gave them a 2-1 advantage in the three games these two clubs have played this season. Both the Raiders and the Bulldogs, co-champions in the Caribou Trail League, will be heading to the state tournament in Tacoma Wednesday.
"You have to think positive about these kinds of things," said Runkel, referring to his pin-striped ensemble. "I don't know if this means we're better than Okanogan. I think both clubs are capable of beating each other on a given night. But I think we have bragging rights in the Caribou."
Okanogan coach Dick Merriman was as gracious in defeat as his attire was informal.
"I think Lake Roosevelt just played better than we did tonight," he said. I expected a much closer game. But we'll be ready when we get over there (to Tacoma).
Lake Roosevelt's Glennis Ware hit five-of-seven long range bombs in the second half to spark the Raiders' championship-game victory.
"Glennis is what really carried us for awhile in the second half," said Runkel. "She was a big key for us in the game."
Ware, a 5-7 senior guard, scored 12 of her game-high 14 points in the final two periods. Four of her five second-half field goals came from outside the 15-foot range.

Okanogan (19-3) - Duke 4, D. Condon 10, Merriman 6, Campbell 8, Derting 2, Pfeiffer 3, Fair 1, C. Condon 6, Beller 1, Walker.
Lake Roosevelt (17-2) - Loe 3, Roberts 12, Frost 13, Haugen 6, Ware 14, Morgan 2, Ethridge 2.
