Game 1.

Quick-starting Ephrata jumped ahead early and never allowed Okanogan to get on track in posting the first-round win in North Central District A girls basketball here Thursday night.
A balanced attack, solid rebounding and excellent ball-handling were ingredients which carried Ephrata to victory.
The Tigers were in control by 10 points at halftime and built the advantage to 16 heading into the fourth quarter, allowing coach Don King to clear the bench.
Amy Jo Silva was a workhorse inside for Ephrata with 12 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots. Betty Cabe had eight points, 10 assists and six rebounds and Karen Ellis also scored eight points for Ephrata.

Game 2.

Janice Goodwin scored 10 fourth-quarter points to help Chelan turn back Tonasket in a first round girls North Central District A basketball tournament game here Thursday night.
Goodwin hit two perimeter shots and made a steal and lay-in to help the Goats spring to an eight-point lead with five minutes to play. She finished with 17 points and accumulated six steals.
The Goats survived a turnover filled game (61 total) by outstanding Tonasket both from the field and foul line. Chelan shot 45 percent from the floor and 67 percent from the foul line.
Rachael Lavender contributed 14 points and Kelly Swinney added 10 points and nine rebounds for Chelan.
Tonasket plays Okanogan Saturday in a loser-out game.

Christine Ives connected for eight points in the fourth quarter to lead Omak past Lake Roosevelt in a first round girls North Central District A basketball game here Thursday night.
The Pioneers came back from a 12-point deficit to lead by two points at halftime as Tanya Smith scored 13 points in the second quarter. Omak never lost the lead in the second half, although the Raiders closed within two points entering the fourth period.

Game 4.

Cascade burst to a 20-4 first-quarter lead and went on to trim Quincy in a first round North Central District A girls basketball tournament game here Thursday night.
The Kodiaks earned a berth in Saturday's semifinals. They'll face Omak at 7 p.m. at Cashmere High.
Cascade controlled the boards for a 46-32 rebounding edge, fired up 29 more shots than the Jackrabbits and held Quincy to under 10 points in each quarter except the fourth.
Four Kodiaks scored in double figures, led by Jennifer Saunders' 17 and Wendi Hurt's 15. Hurt also grabbed 11 rebounds. Donna Eilers had 12 points, nine rebounds and six steals and Bunker Waters tossed in 11 points.

Tonasket, after absorbing two previous losses to Okanogan this season, hung on for the victory over the Bulldogs.
Christy Hohlmdahl keyed the Tigers' victory  by scoring 16 points and pulling down 17 rebounds.
"She really controlled the inside for us," said Tonasket coach Brian Harting of Hohlmdahl.
Neither team shot well, Tonasket shooting 25 percent and Okanogan hitting 24 percent, but the Tigers dominated the rebounding. Both teams also had trouble handling the ball, committing a combined of 51 turnovers.

Lake Roosevelt ended a three-game losing skid and eliminated Quincy.
Leading the way for the Lake Roosevelt were double-figure scorers Cheryl Kosewicz (11) and Dawn Bjorkland (10).
