Winning across county lines difficult for CTL boys

| The road winning percentage in North Central
Washington/Caribou Trail League boy's basketball is .412 --
meaning the road team wins roughly four out of every ten games
when playing in another county. |
|
|
| There have been twelve schools in three counties (Okanogan, Chelan, and
Grant) that have made up the Caribou Trail League in past years. Not
included are Manson and Bridgeport-Mansfield schools. |
| |
| There has always been much debate for the reasons why it is so tough to
play in neighboring counties. |
| |
| Some have pointed to the
fact that each of the three NCW counties have their own officials association and each one tend to
call games differently. Others may tell you it is because of the long
travel and hostile crowd environment a visiting school will face. Perhaps it
has to do with surroundings in a gym where unfamiliar sightlines affects
shooting. Maybe it is a combination of all these things. |
| |
| On one end is Cashmere's
boys basketball team, known for its powerhouse teams in the 70's and 80s,
has winning road records over five-of-six Okanogan County schools. The only
school the Bulldogs have not been able to win at is Brewster. While in
Grant County, Cashmere has pretty much played .500 basketball with some
success at Lake Roosevelt and Quincy but not in Ephrata. |
| |
| On the other end of the
spectrum is Okanogan High School. The Bulldogs boys' basketball
program does not own any winning road records in either Chelan or Grant
County. They don't even own a winning road record within Okanogan County. |
| |
| Looking and comparing all
the facts and figures, one can only see that is the "better teams" that win
on the road. Plain and simple. Those other things might have a
small part in the overall picture but it has been the top boys basketball
teams in the CTL that have consistently won on the road. |
