| WIAA Rule 25.2.6
Districts with only (1) allocation If a District has only one allocation in the first and/or second year of the allocation period, that District would be allowed to petition to the WIAA Executive Board for the opportunity to combine with another district to gain an additional allocation. The deadline for the appeal shall be two (2) weeks after the allocations have been finalized. 1. The WIAA District geographically closest to the District with (1) allocation would be considered first in the possible combination of District allocations. 2. The combination agreement would specify that either District involved would have the potential to gain or to lose the allocation. |
| WIAA Rule 4.11.0 Allocation
Formula The number of schools in a given classification statewide is divided by the number of tournament entries. This figure is then divided into the number of schools in the classification in each WIAA District. The result is the allocation for that district. Example for 2006-08: 1. There will be 65 in Class 1A. 2. Since there are 16 state entries in the state basketball tournament, take 65 and divide by 16. The result is 4.0625. 3. Districts 1, 2 and 3 will combine for 22 schools. 22 divided by 4.0625 = 5.4. District 4 will have 15 schools. 15 divided by 4.0625 = 3.7. District 5 will have 13 schools. 13 divided by 4.0625 = 3.2. District 6 will have 9 schools. 9 divided by 4.0625 = 2.2. District 7 will have 6 schools. 6 divided by 4.0625 = 1.5. Districts 1, 2, 3 will have (5) state berths. District 4 will have (3) state berths. District 5 will have (3) state berths. District 6 will have (2) state berths. District 7 will have (1) state berth. That totals 14 state berths. The two remaining berths come when you add up each number after the decimal. ---.4 + .7 +.2 + .2 + .5 = 2.0.
